Cartogram: Municipalities of the canton of Bern

This example shows the canton of Bern and its municipalities. Select the checkbox on top to scale the municipalities by their population. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, hover over the map for a tooltip.

Code

The code for this map is heavily inspired by the d3-cartogram example. The map is built with d3-cartogram and D3.js using topojson. Client interaction with jQuery, styling by Foundation and map colors by ColorBrewer

Data source

The population data was downloaded from the Swiss open government data pilot portal. Canton geometries by GEOSTAT of the Federal Statistical Office of Switzerland.
